Wescustago Singers

Wescustago Singers is an SATB choir. Inclusion of the maturing female voice, alto and soprano, and the male changed voice, tenor and bass expands the palette of choral experience to include standards in the SATB repertoire.  These singers will advance their choral skills through a continued ear training and sight singing program.  They will perform a diverse repertoire including a capella and accompanied works in various styles.  Wescustago Singers rehearse weekly at Mast Landing School in Freeport on Mondays from 6:30-8:30pm.  One extended Saturday rehearsal per semester will be scheduled.  This choir often begins its season with a time for group building and choral training.  Previous choral experience is required.  (Formal Photo by Soggy Dog Design)

About the Conductor

Drew Albert is a 2010 graduate of the University of Maine where he studied music education. He was lucky enough to have studied choral conducting with Dr. Dennis Cox.  During his undergraduate he acted as Assistant Conductor of the University Singers and the Music Director of the Maine Steiners.

Since graduation, Drew taught vocal and instrumental music at Maranacook Community High School. Currently he is the choral director at Noble High School in North Berwick. His ensembles have performed at ACDA regional festivals, the Maine All-State Conference, Riverside Cathedral in NYC and numerous other festivals and performance venues throughout the northeast. Drew is also proud to have had individual students accepted to the All-Eastern and All-National Honors Festivals, and Honors Performance series at Carnegie Hall. Drew has also served as a guest conductor for district festivals throughout Maine.

Drew is still an active choral singer, singing with the Brunswick chamber choir, “Vox Nova” for five years and now acting as associate conductor for the newly formed, “Una Voce Chamber Choir.” He feels lucky to have been able to continue his love of performing at such a high caliber.

Drew grew up in Millinocket, Maine (not quite the county) and is married to the wonderful Ashley Albert who is the choral director at Brunswick High School.
